Sangiao submits Lauron, Olsim falls to Meng Bo

Team Lakay “New Blood” split ONE 164: Pacio vs Brooks’ lead card showing with Jhanlo Mark Sangiao having a dream like home debut against compatriot Anacleto Lauron at the Mall of Asia Arena, Saturday night.

A class of his own!

The son of the stable’s father and mentor, Mark Sangiao showed his teeth to the Filipino MMA fans after stopping Lauron with a rear naked choke at just one minute and 39 sec of the first round, earning him the $50,000 bonus.

A flying Lauron opened the all-Filipino main fight of the lead card, but Sangiao remained composed avoiding the Tenacity’s knee.

The lighter Sangiao was able to take down Lauron gaining the top position. Sangiao continued his assault with three elbows to disorient the fellow Filipino fighter.

The Machine then went on to try and finish the night with a twister, but Lauron was too slippery for the complicated finisher. Sangiao changed tactics and after a short scuffle found the back of Lauron for the rear naked choke.

“Anyone, it depends to ONE. I’m just here to show what I can do and do my best,” said Sangiao after the fight.

On the other hand, Jenelyn Olsim’s first home fight was cut short when Meng Bo finished ONE 164: Pacio v Brooks curtain raiser with a right hook to KO the Filipina just 24 seconds after the first bell.

The home crowd was too stunned to react after Bo’s huge right planted itself on Olsim’s chin, dropping the latter. There was no testing of waters as the Chinese elite fighter followed with a ground and pound leading to the KO victory.

Yet, according to Bo, she wanted to meet Olsim again inside the Circle for another go if the chance presents itself in the future.

Bo improves to 20-6 after the huge win against Olsim.
