Carlos Alvarez blasts Thai-French foe in 57 seconds

By Jun Ray Navarres

Team Lakay Carlos Alvarez opened ONE Friday Fights 36 with a submission win against “Majin” Title Chai in their featherweight match up at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, on October 6.

The rising star of the Baguio-based stable immediately went for the takedown after the leg kick of Chai and successfully gained the top position in just less than 30 seconds – a really advantageous and favorable position for the Filipino.

From then on, Chai could not do anything to defend against the Filipino slugger who let out a few strikes to his head.

Chai tried standing up but fell victim to Alvarez who flawlessly executed the choke.

The “Limitless” only needed 57 seconds to secure the Anaconda choke and force the tap from the Thai fighter.

The win improved Alvarez’ professional record to 4-0, boasting a 100 per cent finishing rate. Thai-French Chai, on the other hand, was downgraded to 3-2 after the loss.
