La Salle beats Adamson to force three-way tie at the top

By Ardyn Gonzales

The De La Salle University Lady Spikers pocketed their tenth win after winning against the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 17-25, 25-19, 25-11, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament, Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Now at 10-2, La Salle is tied with NU and UST, fighting neck-and-neck for the highly coveted twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals.

The Lady Spikers shrugged off a dismal performance in the opening set and never looked back since.

Adamson tried to keep within distance in the crucial part of the fourth hoping for an extension, but Alleiah Malaluan and company quickly answered back to seal the much-needed victory.

Back to her original position, Shevana Laput towered everyone else with 24 points on 22 attacks and two kill blocks. Thea Gagate and Malaluan combined for 20 markers.

Meanwhile, Jen Villegas led Adamson with season-high 16 points, backed up by the 11 points of Barbie Jamili.
