San Beda Red Lions Robert Bolick and Clint Doliguez boosted the team in the fourth period to continue their winning streak against University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas, 57-53, Thursday in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at the Perpetual Help Gym.

Bolick took two freebies which held Red Lions on their lead before the Altas, as Doliguez continued with a booming triple to keep the comfortable lead on their squad.

However, Keith Pido’s fastbreak layup drove the Altas to take over with a point advantage, 53-52 with only a minute to go.

Doliguez nailed another go-ahead triple with 59 seconds, 53-55, while Bolick drained another free throws in the final six seconds to secure the win.

“Even if it’s an ugly win, I’ll take that,” said Coach Boyet Fernandez. “I will not argue on the credit to my boys, because they really played well.”

Prince Eze could have tied the game with 34.4 second left to play, but missed his free throw shots for the Altas.

“I salute Perpetual, the team and the coaching staff, because they did a really good job in preparing for us,” added Fernandez.

Rookie Doliguez finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists, while Bolick had a double-double record of 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Eze led Perpetual with 11 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks.

The Red Lions climbed further in the team standings with a 7-1 record, just behind the Lyceum Pirates. The Perpetual Altas fell to a 3-5 slate.

San Beda will take on Arellano Chiefs on Tuesday, August 22 as their last game in the first round, while Perpetual will face the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals on Friday, August 25.
