San Sebastian College was able to slip past Emilio Aguinaldo College late in game, 75-73, Friday in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Thanks to Renzo Navarro, the Golden Stags had a 74-70 lead with only 13.8 seconds left in the game, after he drilled all his five points in the final minute with a booming triple for the squad. Jerome Garcia tried to answer back with another three and cut San Sebastian’s lead to one, but Allyn Bulanadi took another free throw shot to continue on with the lead.

Jervin Guzman tried to salvage the game once again, but missed the basket to cap off the Golden Stags’ victory.

Navarro had five points, three rebounds and four assists, while RK Ilagan had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists. Ryan Costelo added 11 points, all but one in the fourth quarter, along with two steals.

Michael Calisaan topped the Golden Stags with 19 points and two rebounds, before being ejected in the third quarter due to two unsportsmanlike fouls against Sidney Onwubere.

Based from the NCAA house rules, the two committed flagrant fouls automatically forfeits any student-athlete from receiving any post-season awards, from which Calisaan would have been certain for the All-NCAA team. Calisaan would also be suspended for one game, which will be on Thursday when they take on the JRU Heavy Bombers at their own home court.

Onwubere led the EAC Generals with a double-double record of 22 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and five blocks. Francis Munsayac, on the other hand, had 16 points.

San Sebastian bounced back with and even record of 4-4, while the EAC Generals had their third straight defeat and fell to 3-5 in the team standings.
