Manila, Philippines – University of Santo Tomas ended their two consecutive losses after thrashing University of the East, 80-66, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Renzo Subido and rookie CJ Cansino led the Tigers from the get-go to lead by as much as 16 points to end the first half, 39-23.

The Warriors relied on veteran Alvin Pasaol, who lifted his teammates up after a 13-0 run that cut the lead to only seven, 42-49.

However, UST was not just about to hand it to the Red Warriors as Cansino orchestrated a much-needed 11-1 rally to end the third at 60-43.

UE failed to inch closer to the Tigers since then as rookie, Joshua Marcos, stepped up his game with back-to-back triples followed by Subido’s own down the stretch as they easily sealed the win.

Subido had 22 points, while former juniors MVP Cansino finished with a double-double 17 markers and 17 rebounds on top of his four assists as the Tigers clinch sixth place in the team standings with a 2-4 slate.

Alvin Pasaol paved the way for his squad as always with 32 points, but his efforts were not enough to lift UE from dropping to season-low with a 1-5 win-loss record.
