The UST Lady Tigresses caught big fish in NU Lady Bulldogs, 21-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-12, to strengthen its UAAP season 79 campaign, Wednesday, March 1, at the FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan.

UST knows it, defeating UE and Adamson is not enough to keep their final four hopes alive as they need to win against those teams above them in the standings. Yesterday, they did it against the struggling NU that is now in a three-game skid.

After losing the first set, the Lady Tigresses banked on the reception problems of NU which was the primary cause of NU collapsing in the next three sets.

True enough, UST was able to accumulate 12 service aces, not including the many misreceptions of NU which forced Coach Roger Gorayeb to not use his two liberos.

Team captain Sisi Rondina led UST in this win with 15 points, 16 excellent digs, and 10 excellent receptions. EJ Laure and Mary Pacres added 11 points each, while even the setter Alina Bicar also contributed 9 points.

Jaja Santiago was the lone star in NU, carrying the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points.

UST is now tied with NU at the fifth spot with a 3-3 record.

Player of the Game: Alina Bicar, 9 points and 30 excellent sets.
