CEBU CITY—The Hotel Fortuna-University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters kicked off their title-retention bid with an 82-64 smashing of the OCCCI-Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildkittens in the high school division of the 2019 Cesafi Partner’s Cup on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the University of San Carlos (USC) Gym
Mac-Z Micutuan and Banban Sevillejo spearheaded the Baby Webmasters by firing 17 and 16 points, respectively.
The duo also delivered the needed baskets when UC nearly squandered a 15-point lead.
While UC found less trouble in tallying its first win in the tournament, the Tough Gear-Southwestern University (SWU) Baby Cobras went through some anxious moments before escaping the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 76-74.
Charles Libatog keyed the Baby Cobras’ big win with 19 points.
In the college division, the ARQ Builders-University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers also took off to a winning start as they dumped the Tough Gear-Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats, 92-62.
UV closed the first quarter with a 23-13 lead and never looked back from that point on as they further broke away at the half, 45-24.
Melvin Butohan topped the Green Lancers with 14 points, while Jancork Cabahug and Gileant Delator donated 12 apiece.
