The National University Lady Bulldogs have completed the elimination sweep of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers in another straight set victory, 25-21, 25-20, 25-17, in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball, Thursday, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Team captain Cess Robles led the Lady Bulldogs in their eighth victory with 17 points, while rookies Michaela Belen and Alyssa Solomon combined for 25 markers. In the non-scoring department, Jennifer Nierva carried the defense of NU with 20 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions.

After taking a commanding 2-0 lead, the Lady Bulldogs quickly built a 10-5 advantage. The Lady Spikers answered back with three consecutive points to inch closer, but NU responded with a 6-0 run of their own. The lead ballooned to 22-12 until a joust won by the Lady Bulldogs at the net gave them the match.

Former NU Nazareth standout Thea Gagate was the lone player of La Salle who tallied a double-digit output, scoring 10 points on seven attacks and three kill blocks.

NU remains undefeated in the standing with an 8-0 slate, while La Salle (5-3) drops to solo third behind UST (6-2). Meanwhile, Adamson, Ateneo, and UP are all tied at fourth spot all with 4-4 win-loss cards.
