Maui Sera Josef’s breakout game leads Arellano past JRU

Manila, Philippines – Arellano’s Maui Sera Josef was a ticking bomb that exploded right in front of Jose Rizal University to take a 79-70 win in the NCAA Season 94 senior’s basketball tournament, Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Fil-Am led his teammates with 17 points, nine rebounds, one steal and one block that saw the Chiefs level their team record to a 3-3 slate.

While the Heavy Bombers sank deep to a dismal 0-7 record.

Arellano managed to make a comeback in the second half to take a four-point lead in the third quarter, 54-50, and never looked back to take possession of the win.

Michael Canete added 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocks for the win, while Ian Alban and Levi Dela Cruz combined for 28 points, nine rebounds and two assists.

On the other hand, Jed Mendoza’s 23 points was put to waste as they faced their seventh consecutive loss in the tournament.
