Colegio de San Juan de Letran gave their all to win against the Emilio Aguinaldo College, 84-78 on Friday in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Playing as a tribute to former Assistant Coach Bob Lotuaco, who passed away last Wednesday, Letran was boosted to lift their record to an 8-7 card to keep their bid for a Final Four spot, while EAC dropped to a 6-9 slate.

“Di pa kami pumapasok ng Final Four, but main goal namin makapasok ng Final Four,” said Coach Jeff Napa. “Maraming dasal ang kakailanganin, pero positibo pa rin ako as long as we play our game.”

Bong Quinto’s 20 first half points boosted the Letran Knight to take a 21-point lead, 50-29.

The Generals did not make it a walk in the park for Letran as they were able to make a run in the fourth quarter and cut the lead to just four points, 82-78, thanks to Francis Munsayac’s back-to-back triples.

But a miss by Sidney Onwubere and JP Calvo’s free throw shots sealed the win for the Letran Knights.

Quinto finished with a career-high 27 points and seven rebounds. Rey Nambatac added 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists, while Calvo had 16 points for the win.

Onwubere tallied with 27 points and seven rebounds.
