The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws earned their first consecutive wins this season, defeating the University of the East Lady Warriors in four sets, 25-20, 25-17, 24-26, 25-22 in UAAP Women’s Volleyball, Saturday, at FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan City.

The Lady Tamaraws were scorching hot all throughout the match, even when they dropped the third set via their own unforced errors. They tallied a season-high 63 attack points against the 42 of UE.

However, the impressive showdown of great attacks from FEU and UE was made possible by the great floor defense of both teams. Bernadette Pons had 24 excellent digs while the reigning best digger Kat Arado continued to make a name for herself with 40 excellent digs.

After being down in the latter part of the fourth set by four points, the Lady Warriors tried to mount a comeback to extend the game and inched closer, 22-24. But the defense of UE was caught off guard with the ball suddenly going in after a broken play by FEU.

It was a usual day for Bernadette Pons who topscored for the Lady Tamaraws. But it was the former Lady Warrior captain who stood out, playing extra inspired with her season-high 19 markers against her former team.

Meanwhile, Mary Ann Mendrez barged in the twenty-point performance for the first time this season with 21 points to lead the Lady Warriors.

Player of the Game: Bernadeth Pons, 21 points (21 attacks)
