EAC COMPLETES COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN AGAINST JRU

The Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals surged for a come-from-behind win against Jose Rizal University, 88-84 on Tuesday, to keep their hold for fourth spot in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre.

“I’m very thankful and wala na akong masabi kasi thankful talaga ako kay Lord and sa mga players ko, because they are doing their very best,” said EAC Coach Ariel Sison.

The Generals were down by 14 points in the third quarter, 58-44, when they made a gutsy 17-5 run to grab an 86-81 lead over the Heavy Bombers.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Jerome Garcia and Jeric Diego, the Generals were able to overturn the match in the final quarter as they made 18 baskets to boost EAC clinch on to victory, while Francis Munsayac capped it off with a basket in the final 32 seconds of the game.

EAC holds on to fourth place with a 6-6 slate, while JRU dropped to a 7-5 card.

Garcia proved to be keep his position vital once again for the Generals, as he powered the squad with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists, while fellow forward Diego added 11 points and six rebounds for the win.

Meanwhile, Sidney Onwubere completed his 28 points for the Generals after a booming triple late in the game.

On the other hand, Jed Mendoza paced the Heavy Bombers with 22 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Tey Teodoro added 18 points, yet he still committed about six turnovers in the game and Ervin Grospe finished with 15 points in the defeat.
