Benilde bounces back, defeats Arellano

Manila, Philippines – College of St. Benilde is back on their winning ways after defeating Arellano University, 89-73, Friday in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

After back-to-back losses from San Sebastian College-Recoletos and Mapua University, the Blazers are back on their feet as they now stand at an 8-5 win-loss record.

The Blazers were hot from the get-go and led by as much as 11 points coming into the second half, 37-26.

Justin Gutang then stepped up his game in the third quarter with the help of Rob Nayve to power the Blazers for a 28-12 rally and eventually sealed the deal.

Gutang finished with 23 points, six assists and three steals, while Nayve recorded his career-best of 16 markers.

Clement Leutcheu added a double-double record of 14 points and 11 rebounds and Unique Naboa chipped in 13 markers for the win.

On the other hand, Ian Alban had 22 points as the Chiefs dropped to a 4-8 slate.
