After an overtime 79-75 loss in the first round, the San Sebastian Golden Stags avenged themselves as they buried theLetran Knights with a 95-64 win on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
It was evident that the Golden Stags are gearing towards victory after handling the ball game easily on their hands in the first half until they even extended their lead by the third frame sparking a 24-9 run.
San Sebastian went on to lead by as much as 33 points, 87-54 after a Kevin Baytan trey, which made up for the team’s 16th triple out of 37 attempts beyond the arc.
“Yung team naman, ganito talaga ang buhay namin. We live and die with the three points and it is a good thing na pumapasok naman lahat and at 42 percent, mataas yun,” said Coach Egay Macaraya.
The Golden Stags tied with JRU Heavy Bombers for the third spot with a 7-6 card after winning the game as their second consecutive win, while Letran slipped down to fifth place with an even 7-7 slate.
Jayson David paced San Sebastian with 17 points, which was spiked by three treys, along with five rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Allyn Bulanadi added 16 points, powered by another three triples, while Michael Calisaan had 13 points and seven rebounds for the win.
Meanwhile, Bong Quinto led the Letran Knights with 14 points and six rebounds, while JerrickBalanza added 13 points and five rebounds.
