ST. BENILDE UPSETS PERPETUAL ANEW

The College of St. Benilde did not let their guards down to pull off a stunning win against Perpetual Help, 83-55 on Friday in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Centre.

After their first encounter in the first round, the Blazers were vigorous to show they do not need Perpetual to wear their wrong uniform again to win the game.

St. Benilde limited the Altas to just nine points in the first quarter as Altas continued to buckle for the rest of the game after committing 29 turnovers that led to 26 Benilde points.

Edward Dixon continued to make it big for St. Benilde, finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Meanwhile, Carlo Young, who makes it back after a one-game suspension, scored all of his 14 points in the first half to boost the Blazers take a big lead.

Clement Leutcheu also finished with 14 points, along with 11 rebounds.

Altas fell short in the offensive end with 35 percent from the field and Keith Pido only making it to eight points for the squad. Prince Eze was limited to six points, but collected 16 rebounds in the defeat.

The Blazers made it to a 3-9 card, while the Altas slipped to a 4-7 record in the team standings.
