The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA was able to fend off the San Sebastian College-Recoletos late in the fourth quarter to notch their second straight win in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament, 68-65, Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

“Masarap sa pakiramdam kasi mahirap manalo. Pinaghirapan naming ‘to kaya masarap talaga sa pakiramdam,” said GJ Ylagan in the post-game interview.

San Sebastian Golden Stags was persistent in making sure that Perpetual will not be taking the price easily, as they rallied in the last frame with Michael Calisaan doing most of the job. He shot two jumpers that cut the lead to three, 57-60.

AJ Coronel and Keith Pido added back-to-back baskets for the Golden Stags, while Calisaan knocked another basket to cut the lead to one, 63-64, 16.2 seconds left in the game.

Luckily, Ylagan knocked all of the four free throws in the last 14.6 seconds of the game before blocking Allyn Bulanadi’s three point shot attempt 6.2 ticks left and sealed the win for Perpetual Altas.

Ylagan finished with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. Prince Eze added a double-double record with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Coronel had 10 points.

Calisaan led the Golden Stags with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Ryan Costelo chipped in 13 points. Bulanadi added another 12 points.

Perpetual Help now has a 2-2 slate in the team standings and will face the Lyceum Pirates on Friday, August 4. San Sebastian dropped down to 1-3 win-loss record and will try to end the losing skid on Friday against the Mapua Cardinals.
