Perez powers unbeaten Pirates past Altas

Manila, Philippines – Thanks to reigning Most Valuable Player CJ Perez, the Lyceum of the Philippines University continued their winning streak after defeating University of Perpetual Help, 91-77, Friday in the NCAA Season 94 senior’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Perez was all over the court and finished with a game-high double-double record of 26 points and 10 rebounds along with three assists and two steals.

Altas gained a slight momentum in the second quarter to oust the Pirates, 30-24, but Perez boosted his teammates for a 24-8 run that turned over to a ten-point lead, 48-38, at the half.

Perpetual was able to close the gap to three, 65-68, in the fourth salvo, but Jaycee Marcelino shot seven straight points to create a comfortable lead for the Pirates and never looked back since then.

With their sixth consecutive win, Lyceum gains solo lead in the tournament, two games ahead of defending champs, San Beda University. Meanwhile, Perpetual suffered their second loss.

Jaycee Marcelino chipped in 20 points for the win.

Prince Eze led Perpetual with a double-double record of 20 points and 18 rebounds on top of his two blocks.
