The Emilio Aguinaldo College stuns the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA and finally claiming victory after a series of recent unfortunate losses in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament, with a 61-57 win on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

“We gave our hearts in this game, because we cannot allow them to beat us,” said EAC Coach Ariel Sison, recalling their last game in the first round of last season.

With less than five minutes left in the game, Jerome Garcia drilled a booming triple to help EAC gain their momentum with a three point advantage, 50-47.

The Generals continued to be ahead of the game with a 59-52 advantage, one minute remaining to play, when the Altas Rommel Mangalino and Jack Hao made combination baskets to cut the lead to only two points.

However, Francis Munsayac knocked down two free throws, which sealed the win for the Generals.

Sidney Onwubere continued to be a striking force for the Generals as he finished with a double-double record of 21 points and 17 rebounds. Munsayac added 16 points for the win.

Prince Eze, on the other hand, led Perpetual Altas with a double-double record too of 14 points and 20 rebounds.

EAC has ended their first round campaign with a 4-5 slate, while Perpetual Altas finished with a 3-6 slate just behind the Generals in the team standings.
