After winning over the defending champions San Beda last Friday, the Lyceum of the Philippines University continued to run off with their third winning streak in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament after their triumph over San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 78-73, Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

It was a tough game until the last minutes of the final frame. With a minute left on the clock, Reymar Caduyac tipped Mike Nzeusseu for a shot under the basket, and gave the Pirates 74-70 lead.

But it was another Caduyac assist that led MJ Ayaay to shoot the dagger triple which gave the Pirates a comforting lead, 77-70 with only 26 second left in the game.

On the other end, Michael Calisaan was able to cut the deficit to four with a triple, 17 seconds left.

San Sebastian Coach Topex Robinson says that despite their continuous winning streak in the tournament, it still is not a time to celebrate as it is just the start of the season and they have to get better after 27 turnovers by Lyceum led to San Sebastian points.

Former Golden Stag CJ Perez led the squad with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Ayaay added 17 points. Nzeusseu had a double-double 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Calisaan is a big man to be dealt with after a game-high double-double record of 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Allyn Bulanadi added 16 markers and nine boards.

Lyceum will face the Arellano Chiefs on Tuesday, July 25, while the Golden Stags will take on JRU Heavy Bombers on Thursday, July 27.
