Lyceum relies on defense in second half to trounce EAC

Manila, Philippines – Lyceum of the Philippines University forced Emilio Aguinaldo College for the worst record of turnovers to clinch a 95-75 win on Thursday in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Generals were forced to make 38 turnovers that turned into 38 Lyceum points.

Lyceum kept their immaculate 12-0 record to stay unbeaten and remain on top of the team standings in the tournament, while EAC suffered their ninth loss in the season.

EAC put on a good fight, but Lyceum managed to pull away in the second half that left the Generals behind.

Brothers Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino knocked down four points each for an 8-0 run in the payoff period that gave Lyceum an 89-69 lead.

CJ Perez once again paved the way for the Pirates with 19 points and five rebounds, while Mike Nzeusseu had 18 markers and seven boards.

Jaycee chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals, while his brother Jayvee added 10. Ralph Tansingco also came alive for the Pirates with 11 markers.

On the other hand, Jerome Garcia finished with a game-high 30 points and nine rebounds.

Jess Bautista added a double-double record of 19 markers and 13 boards, while Hamadou Laminou had a 10-point 10-rebound double-double in the losing effort.
