The Lyceum Pirates continues to keep their winning streak in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament after crushing the St. Benilde Blazers, 83-69 on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Pirates already made a comfortable lead before the end of the first half with as much as 21 points, 43-22, with the help of a booming triple by Spencer Pretta and layup by CJ Perez.

However, Assistant Coach Jeff Perlas was not satisfied with their win, as the Pirates committed about 23 turnovers and played too lax for the match.

“Actually we’re far from satisfied, kasi ang dami naming turnovers,” said Perlas. “Teams will catch up, so it will be up to us to adjust to those adjustments.”

Lyceum grabbed their 11th straight win, while St. Benilde dropped to a 2-9 win-loss record.

No doubt, Perez once again led the squad with 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals, while MJ Ayaay had 12 points. MVP candidate Mike Nzeusseu, on the other hand, finished with a double-double record of 10 markers, 11 boards and two blocks.

On the other hand, Edward Dixon paced the Blazers with a game-high 27 points in the defeat. Clement Leutcheu added a double-double record of 13 points and 20 rebounds.

Lyceum will try to extend their streak to 12 against the Arellano Chiefs on Friday, while St Benilde will face Perpetual on the same day.
