The Lyceum of the Philippines University continues to lead the team standings after claiming their fourth win against the Arellano University at the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament, 99-65, Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Pirates led in the offensive board after finishing with a 44.87 percent shooting than the Chief’s 36.62 percent. Lyceum even converted Arellano’s 27 turnovers to 26 points as Arellano crashed in their defense, scoring only 32 from LPU’s 51 record.

Twins Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino stepped up for the Pirates after stopping the Chief leader Kent Salado from shooting, therefore limited Salado to 5-for-15 shooting from the field.

“We just challenged them (Jaycee and Jayvee) and made sure that they’re grounded since they already know their purpose,” said Lyceum Coach Topex Robinson.

LPU’s most prized recruit CJ Perez continued to lead the Pirates after scoring all 14 of his 16 points in the second half, while Jaycee finished with 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. His brother Jayvee added eight points, five rebounds and two assists.

MJ Ayaay had an almost double-double record of 13 points and nine rebounds while Ralph Tansingco added 13 points as well.

Zach Nicholls stepped up for the Arellano Chiefs with 12 points after Salado was limited to his season-low 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Lyceum took on the top of the standings with a clean 4-0 slate, while Arellano dropped to 2-2 win-loss record.

Lyceum will face Mapua on Friday, July 28, while Arellano will take on Saint Benilde on the same day.
