Lyceum edges Letran in thriller to remain undefeated

Manila, Philippines – When Lyceum almost lost their will to fight, MJ Ayaay was there to help them up.

Ayaay gave Lyceum of the Philippines University a much needed boost to take an 87-82 win against Colegio de San Juan De Letran, Friday in the NCAA Season 94 senior’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Down 11 points in the final six minutes of the game, 76-65, Ayaay was not just about to give up and led a 22-5 run that turned over the game back to Lyceum.

Ayaay and CJ Perez worked hand in hand for a total of 14 points that gave Lyceum the lead, while JC Marcelino shot six consecutive points that sealed their win.

Team captain Ayaay finished with 20 points, four rebounds and two steals, while Mike Nzeusseu had 16 points.

Perez was all over the court with 16 points, seven rebounds and two steals and JC Marcelino had 10 markers, seven boards and two assists as the Pirates remain unbeaten in the tournament with an 8-0 slate.

JP Calvo had 18 points, while Bong Quinto chipped almost had a triple-double of 13 points, 10 boards and nine assists.

With the loss, the Knights dropped to fifth place with a 4-3 record.
