Lyceum dominates San Sebastian in season opener

Lyceum of the Philippines University continues its dominance in the basketball league after defeating San Sebastian College- Recoletos in the season opener of the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament, 85-80, Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

With only three minutes left in the game, San Sebastian tied the game at 77-all.

Big man Mike Nzeusseu made a basket with the assist of Spencer Pretta to make way for a 6-1 run, 83-78, with only 42 seconds left in the game.

Allyn Bulanadi shot a couple of free throws that gave San Sebastian a chance, but MJ Ayaay took the last shot that sealed the win for the Pirates and defeated Baste.

Veteran Nzeusseu was unstoppable as he helped the team with a big double-double record that stunned the Stags, 23 points and 20 rebounds.

Perez once again led the Pirates to trample over the Stags, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Jaycee Marcelino added 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals for the win.

RK Ilagan, on the other hand, topped the Golden Stags with 18 points before being fouled out of the game in the final quarter, while Bulanadi and Calisaan combined for 27 points.
