Letran outmuscles EAC to tie for third place

Manila, Philippines – Bong Quinto lifted Colegio de San Juan de Letran as they claimed a 75-56 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 94 senior’s basketball tournament on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Quinto was felt all over the court and finished with a triple-double record of 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds with two steals.

Down three in the first quarter, Letran surged past the Generals in the second quarter with Quinto on the front row of the run. He shot six points at the half that pushed the Knights lead by as much as 14 points, 43-29.

The Knights never looked back and never gave the Generals the chance to close in the gap.

With their second consecutive win, Letran now stands with a 6-3 win-loss slate and claims third place along with College of St. Benilde, who won against University of Perpetual Help in the latter game.

Bonbon Batiller also exhibited a great performance and led the team with 17 points, four rebounds and three assists.

On the other hand, Hamadou Laminou had 18 points, while Jerome Garcia had 11 markers. Laminou and Philip Tampoc combined for 29 rebounds, but the Generals still dropped to a 2-7 slate.

QUARTER SCORES: 14-17, 43-29, 57-46, 76-56.
