Manila, Philippines – The Far Eastern University bounces back and regains their standing in the league as they defeated the gritty University of the Philippines, 89-73, Sunday in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

UP is without coach Bo Perasol, who is serving his one-game suspension after he got ejected in their game against Ateneo when he lashed out on a game official.

Arvin Tolentino and Hubert Cani paved the way for the Tamaraws as they outscored the Fighting Maroons from the get-go and extended their lead to as much as 14 points at the first half, 49-35.

The Maroons tried to make a comeback in the second half, but FEU was nowhere near stopping their rally as Wendell Comboy sank in a triple to put a 24-point cushion in the last five minutes of the third quarter, 63-49.

Despite Javi Gomez De Liano’s efforts to lead the Maroons to victory, it was not enough as time ran out and sealed the deal for the Tams.

Prince Orizu finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Tolentino had 13 markers.

Comboy added 12 points and Jasper Parker chipped in 11 markers, six boards and six assists as FEU takes second spot in the tournament along with Ateneo De Manila University and De La Salle University.
