Belingon suffers another setback, bows to Korean foe

By Jun Ray Navares

Team Lakay Kevin Belingon’s setback continues as Kim Jae Woong scored an impressive TKO win in his ONE Bantamweight debut at Singapore Indoor Stadium, Saturday morning Manila time.

Belingon’s loss streak now totals five matches.

The former ONE Bantamweight World Champion tried to set the fight mood with his usual side kicks combining with strikes and ground action in the curtain raiser of ONE on Prime Video 4: Abbasov vs Lee.

The Korean fighter was also equally aggressive at the sound of the first bell, pushing Belingon to the cage.

Belingon caught Kim’s kick, pinning him down with a leg sweep yet the Korean was prepared. The Fighting God picked his strikes afterwards trying to find the perfect opportunity to counter Belingon.

The chance arrived quickly when Belingon turned aggressive, rushing Kim. A missed right hook allowed the former featherweight no. 1 to land a cross followed by a lead hook to floor the former division kingpin.

Belingon was then unable to defend himself from the flurry of punches thrown by Kim, forcing Muhamad Sulaiman to end the night at 2:33 of the first round.

Kim’s stat sheet better improves to 10 finishes in his last 13 wins, boasting an almost 100% finishing rate.
