Lito Adiwang eyes dream matchup with champion Rodtang

By Jun Ray Navarres

ONE Championship newcomer Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang revealed his interest of fighting ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon, and even expressed that their fight shouldn’t just be a dream.

“I love fantasy match-ups. Match-up with Rodtang shouldn’t just be a fantasy, it should be a reality,” Adiwang boldly said.

Rodtang has a clean record of eight-nothing in his ONE Super Series venture and reached the pinnacle of striking when he won ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship against Jonathan Haggerty in August 2019.

Adiwang, being a huge fan of ONE Super Series has been studying Rodtang’s fighting style extensively, looking for an opening in the Thai’s incredible speed and knockout prowess.

“His strength is in his powerful strikes. He has powerful kicks and punches, and has that demolition style. He will come forward and put the pressure on his opponent, looking to destroy them with powerful combinations,” said Adiwang, who believes that he knows how to handle the world champion.

“But I think he has trouble when an opponent is good in countering and keeping the distance. He sometimes has difficulty landing when an opponent is elusive.”

Regardless of his future plans, Adiwang reiterated that he’s focused in his current mixed martial arts career.

Team Lakay’s new phenom has been sweeping ONE Championship strawweight like a storm, leaving huge impressions every time he steps on the Circle with an aggressive and explosive offensive style. He currently enjoys a seven fight win streak.

Nonetheless, “Thunder Kid” is always open for the possibility of meeting his respected idol “The Iron Man” .

“If me and Rodtang face each other somewhere down the line, I will do my best to shock the world. I want to prove to the world that even an ordinary boy can do extraordinary things if he just believes in himself, puts in the work, and dedicates himself to achieving his goals. I want that fantasy matchup to become a reality,” said Adiwang.

“My dream is to fight the best of the best and become a champion, and Rodtang is one of the fighters on my shortlist to test myself against. If we fight in Muay Thai, I know it’s going to be a good show. Of course I will do my best to get the victory. But if he ever plans to try MMA, I would love to be the one to welcome him into our world.”
