Filipino fighter Rolando Dy eyes BRAVE world title shot

Dedication creates a champion.

Despite being newly-wed, Rolando Dy opted to grind at his gym in Dasmariñas, Cavite to prepare for a possible call for his dream title shot against BRAVE CF lightweight king Amin Ayoub.

The 29-year old son of boxing legend Rolando Navarrete tied the knot with his partner Stephanie Rebagoda in a civil wedding last November 28, and “The Incredible” couldn’t ask for a better partner.

“I am happy because my wife understands my life as a fighter. She understands every aspect of my job description. It’s a blessing that I found someone who will stick with me through thick and thin,” Dy shared.

“We’ve been living together for a year already. I just wanted to make it formal, as well as legal, in the eyes of the Lord and our families.”

Dy has been equipping himself in case he gets a call to return in action, especially for the title fight he’s been longing.

“After our wedding, I just took a few days off. Now I am back in training. Like I always say, I am ready. If there’s an offer to fight and it makes sense, I will take it. I won’t think twice to accept it, especially if it’s a title shot,” he stated.

“We’re pushing for the title fight. I know I deserve it. I hope they will give it to me.”

With the addition to being eyed in Brave CF’s 2020 Fighter of the Year, Dy also propelled himself to the upper ranks of the division after a unanimous decision win against John Brewin in BRAVE CF 44 last month.

Brewin was initially scheduled to Team Crossface stand out Sam Patterson but the latter dropped out due to an undisclosed injury. Now, Patterson wants the Filipino contender but Dy won’t grant his wish.

“He’s just an attention-seeker. I don’t want to fight him not because I am afraid. I don’t want to fight him because he backed out against Brewin. He chickened out. He didn’t have a valid reason to back out. I don’t believe he’s really injured,” Dy declared.

“I won’t give him his request because I am the one who’s next for the title. I want that title shot.”

But Dy promised that whenever he and Patterson are fated to meet inside the circle in the future, he will teach him a lesson that he will carry in his fighting career.
