The last time Filipino MMA star Eduard Folayang fought here in the country, he went down in a crashing defeat against now two-division world champion Martin Nguyen.
This time, though, the Baguio-native presented the home crowd with a win as he topped erstwhile unbeaten Aziz Pahrudinov by way of unanimous decision in their fight in ONE: Reign of Kings on Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Folayang was aggressive right from the get go, hitting his Russian counterpart with solid leg kicks.
Pahrudinov tried to ground and pound Folayang by taking him down to the canvas multiple times but to no avail as the Pinoy fighter was able to mitigate and break loose from his attacks.
Folayang then was in control the whole fight, accurate in his attacks especially on his relentless leg kicks, en route to a unanimous decision victory.
‘The Landslide’ Folayang improved his record to 20-6 while Aziz Pahrudinov saw his record now stained with one loss, 20-1.
