Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang manhandled Hexigetu in the lead card of ONE: Revolution at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
In a dominating performance, the Thunder Kid put up a masterclass against the Wolf of the Grasslands, making use of his height and reach advantage in all three rounds to secure a clear-cut unanimous decision victory .
“It’s great, I’m very happy for the win,” he said after the bout.
However, the former ONE Warrior Series alumnus was displeased at his opponent’s outing, saying it was contrary to what they have prepared for.
“Hexigetu’s style is not good for a KO or a real, entertaining fight. So I just tried to make it entertaining as I can.”
Adiwang set the tone early in the fight with his striking, rocking Hexigetu with a flying knee and then followed up with another flying head kick to take control of the opening round.
The Baguio native continued his onslaught in the second round and was even smiling despite being hit illegally three times in that stretch.
“You can train your head, your body to get punched or kicked,” he said on those illegal blows. “But down there it’s different.”
“There are a lot of instances that we can just stop the fight, but I want to go there and I don’t want to disappoint the fans that’s why I continued it.”
Still, that did not deter the 24-year old from taking the victory, where it was more satisfying considering that he had to recover from COVID-19 in their build-up to their battle.
“I know that I got him already. I need to enjoy myself there while working.”
