Former ONE Flyweight champion Geje Eustaquio is already looking forward to 2021 after a rough year for Pinoy MMA this year.
Being one of the few bright spots of Team Lakay, “Gravity” is still not contented on his lone bout of the year that ended in a decision win, despite a dominating performance against South Korea’s Song Min Jong in a catchweight clash.
“I’m actually a bit disappointed with my last fight, because I was looking forward to ending it with a submission or a knockout,” he admitted. “It just so happened that I went in there with a big and strong athlete, honestly.”
Eustaquio cannot contain his desire to fight his original opponent at Inside The Matrix III, saying that he has an unfinished business to settle but it will be on the hands of the promotion to pick who will be his next target on the road to redemption.
“I have unfinished business with Gary Mangat. The rest is ONE Championship’s choice,” he added, noting that he was raring to fight the Canadian until Mangat’s coronavirus infection forced them to drastically change their game plans.
“Fans should expect me to go out there hungrier than ever. I want to look for finishes in all of my fights. I want the fans to be excited and thrilled with my performances.”
He promises fans the Baguio City-based stable will be back stronger than ever in 2021 as they are looking to redeem themselves after what was supposed to be their great year was hampered by the pandemic.
“What I want is to become a better athlete and climb up the ranks again. I want to prove to the world that I still belong in the league of world champions. To do that, I have to develop my skills as fast as I can.”
Away from the cage, the ever-flamboyant Eustaquio is now devoting his time to his family as he had already plotted his plans once he hangs up his gloves for good, starting by buying his own ranch.
“Quality time is everything to me, and family is everything. Money can’t buy happiness, and money can’t buy time. Spend your happiness and time wisely.”
