SECOND SIX DELIVERS FOR UST, QUELLS UE

The University of Sto. Tomas Lady Tigresses displayed its deep bench, giving more playing time for their second stringers in sweeping University of the East Lady Warriors in straight sets, 25-21, 25-15, 25-23, to earn solo third spot, March 11, Saturday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Lady Tigresses saw themselves down in the first set, 6-12, as the Lady Warriors were able to neutralize the attacks of UST thanks to UE’s libero Kath Arado.

UST then went on a run led by the tandem of EJ Laure and Sisi Rondina, stole the lead at 17-16,then never looked back to claim the set from behind.

Coach Kung Fu opted to give opportunity for his second six in the next sets, where they rose to the challenge, dominating UE in the second set while surviving the late rally of UE in the third to claim their fifth win of the season.

All Lady Tigresses were given playing time and scored at least a point. Senior Pamela Lastimosa and Tin Francisco top scored for UST with 10 points apiece.

Meanwhile, despite the loss, Kath Arado displayed efficiency in defense with 21 excellent digs and 20 excellent receptions.
