Manila, Philippines – San Beda University continues their winning ways as they whipped Mapua University, 80-55, Friday in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Only with a point keeping them apart from the Cardinals, Donald Tankoua took the lead and boosted the Red Lions for a 25-8 run, leaving the Cardinals behind.
The Cameroonian dropped 15 of his 24 points in the second half, which gave San Beda a comfortable edge in the game.
Mapua was limited again below 60 points as they dropped to a 2-8 slate in the tournament.
Tankoua paved the way for the Red Lions along with eight rebounds, while Calvin Oftana chipped in 11 points of his own for the win.
Javee Mocon had nine markers and six boards, while Robert Bolick finished with seven points, eight assists and six rebounds as San Beda remains on the second spot behind Lyceum with a 10-1 win-loss record.
Laurenz Victoria led the Cardinals with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists as they suffered their sixth straight loss.
