The University of the Philippines finally solved the La Salle puzzle stunning the defending champion La Salle in straight sets, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19, Wednesday, February 15 at the FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan.
Both UP and La Salle have Tiamzon on their side, but it was the Tiamzon of the Lady Maroons who prevailed. Nicole Tiamzon was hot all throughout the match, not letting the Lady Spikers bounce back.
Although La Salle was able to outscore the Lady Maroons in terms of blocking, 11-4, it was still not enough to compensate for the attacks together with several service aces from UP.
Nicole Tiamzon was the top scorer for UP with 16 points while sophomore Tots Carlos added 11.
UP was able to limit the ace spikers of La Salle with Kim Dy and Majoy Baron only scoring 9 points apiece.
The Lady Maroons are still undefeated with 3-0 card while La Salle falls to 2-1.
Player of the Game: Nicole Tiamzon, 16 points (16 attacks)
