After succumbing to last season’s finalists, the UST Lady Tigresses registered their first win in their Season 79 campaign with a 25-9, 25-22, 25-23 victory against the UE Lady Warriors, February 15, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying-V Arena in San Juan.

It was not the usual game of UE in the first set as they were unable to match the confidence showed by UST, failing to score more than nine points.

UE then recovered in the next two sets despite team captain Shaya Adorador being pulled out in the middle of the second frame. However, UST was just unstoppable, ending the match in their favor courtesy of the off-the-block hit by Sisi Rondina.

Ria Meneses made up for her low output in the first two games of UST, emerging as the top scorer in this match with 13 points. The tandem of Laure and Rondina had a total of 24 points.

Meanwhile, no Lady Warrior was able to score more than six points as Adorador was limited to just a single point.

The Lady Tigresses now have a 1-2 record together with FEU.

Player of the Game: Ria Meneses, 13 points.
