Letran’s defense holds down San Sebastian for first win

Manila, Philippines –Colegio de San Juan de Letran bounced back from their lost against University of Perpetual Help as they defeated San Sebastian College, 83-76, Friday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Knights had a slow start in the game, but they soon solidified their defense against the Stags until the last quarter to limit San Sebastian to only 35% shooting.

Letran shot a 27-for-59 from the field, while Baste depressingly had a 29-for-81 shooting, which left them in the losing end of the competition.

With the aim to be part of the winning column, Letran Knights led by 11 points in the fourth quarter, 61-54. Bong Quinto and JP Calvo boosted the squad after back-to-back baskets that stretched their lead by as much as 16 points.

Quinto led Letran with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Meanwhile, Calvo added 16 markers and three boards. JerrickBalanza finished with 15 points and three rebounds.

On the other hand, Allyn Bulanadi had a game-high 21 points and RK Ilagan chipped in 18 markers in the losing effort.

Quarter Scores: 15-18, 39-34, 59-50, 83-76.
