The De La Salle University Lady Spikers tallied their sixth win after defeating the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in straight sets, 25-23, 25-13, 25-14, in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball, Saturday, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Thea Gagate and Alleiah Malaluan led La Salle with 14 and 12 points, respectively, as the Lady Spikers vented their ire on the struggling Lady Tamaraws in their second round match-up after being swept by NU in their previous game.
Down 13-20 in the opening set, La Salle slowly inched closer to narrow the lead of FEU with a 10-3 run. A strong down-the-line hit from Erika Santos tied the match at 23-all. Mars Alba then came up with a timely service ace until FEU committed an unforced error which gave the first set to the Lady Spikers.
It was all La Salle in the next two sets, registering a double-digit lead in the second and third frame over the Lady Tamaraws.
FEU’s top scorer was Shiela Kiseo who only finished with seven points.
The Lady Spikers remain at the third spot of the standings with a 6-3 slate, while the Lady Tamaraws continue their losing streak with a 1-8 win-loss card. Meanwhile, NU remains undefeated and UST still keeps their hold of solo second after winning their match against UP.
