PASAY – Team Lakay scored its second win on ONE 164 after Jeremy Pacatiw defeated Myanmar’s Tial Thang by way of submission Saturday night at the MOA Arena.
In the second fight of the main card, a ruthless display by the Juggernaut puts the Dragon Leg on the back foot for the entirety of their bantamweight bout, which was capped off with a choke out in the early stages of the second round.
Later on, he earned a $50,000 performance bonus as a result of his dominating display in their bantamweight encounter.
True to his name, Pacatiw unleashed a masterclass on Aung La N Sang’s protégé at both ends of the circle, with the tempo and the initiative going to the way of the former.
From the opening bell, the MOA crowd were treated to a striking lesson by the Juggernaut which was then followed by a series of grappling skills as he tries to lock out his opponent.
In the second round, Pacatiw intensified his offense in the Circle, until he put out a triangle choke that forced his Thang to tap out, with referee Justin Brown halting the contest at the 3:43 mark.
His submission surprised most of people in attendance with the way he fought, noting that striking was his forte.
“As a martial artist, we need to train everything. Not only one arsenal, but mixed martial arts composed a lot of discipline. With proper and right people in the gym, we train our arsenal and we need to keep on grinding. Repetition is the key,” he said.
Pacatiw improved his ONE record at 2-1 (11-5 overall), while Thang dropped to 3-2 (with one No contest).
