With Lyceum’s first season of a Perez-less era, brothers Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino proved that they will be a team to watch out for this season 95 as they beat Colegio de San Juan de Letran with 84-80 in Mall of Asia Arena today.

It was indeed a Marcelino show as they staged a 13-4 run in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter.

The twins scored a total of 42 points with Jaycee garnering 24 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals while Jayvee with 18 points, 2 assists and game-sealing layup with 3.8 seconds to play.

Even as one of the strongest teams in the NCAA this season, Jaycee Marcelino was worried that it’ll be a struggle for them to go against the bigger players of other teams especially with its foreign players.

“Sabi nga ni Jaycee, ‘Coach, tayo na ang pinakamaliit.’ But sabi ko nga sa kanila, we have two choices: it’s either we lose by just being the smallest team or we win by being the smallest team,” expressed by coach Topex Robinson.

Although, Coach Topex remains confident as he knows that despite their lack of height, they are one of the quickest teams in the conference and that there is their best asset.

“We might be the smallest, but what we have is the quickest team in the league right now and we’re focusing on all our energy to being the smallest and the quickest team in the league, hoping that teams won’t catch up our quickness.”

LPU’s next game will be against Emilio Aguinaldo University on July 12, Friday, Filoil Flying V Arena, San Juan City.
