Geje Eustaquio finally broke the duck for Team Lakay, as Gravity notched a unanimous decision win over Song Min Jong at the co-main event of ONE: Inside the Matrix III that was beamed Friday evening at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
It was a dominating performance for the former ONE Flyweight World Champion, firing from all cylinders right from the opening bell in their catchweight bout set at 64 kilos which falls under the bantamweight class.
As if his kicking game was enough, he tried to finish the South Korean off on a submission attempt before he was caught by the bell, but the judges deemed it surplus as it award him the convincing victory, as it make amends from the losses of Eduard Folayang and Lito Adiwang.
An exhausted yet overjoyed Eustaquio was beaming on his win in which he himself was even out of action for more than a year before this bout took place, a spinning back kick knockout of Toni Tauru at their home stand at Masters of Fate.
“It feels awesome for the rest of the year,” he remarked. “I really missed the competition because of the pandemic we are facing right now.”
Despite having some regrets of not choking Song out according to their game plan, he still feels good about getting back to the circle, shaking off the long rest owing to the coronavirus pandemic that thwarted their plans for almost ten months.
“The ring rust is gone,” he added, as it credited the top brass of the promotion in resuming action.
