Former two-time ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio returns to action against rampaging “Running Man” Song Min Jong in a catchweight of 64kg in a pre-recorded ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX III.
Eustaquio reemerges to ONE Circle alongside stablemates Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon and Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang in a scheduled global broadcast on Friday, 13 November.
“Gravity” will face a South Korean mix martial arts champion Song who carries a 4-bout winning streak in his pockets coming into the fight. Song, a product of Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series is known for his ground fighting.
Eustaquio approves Song’s resume, however he is positive that he can halt the latter’s berserk and raise his own hands in victory at the end of the night.
“I have a lot of respect for him. He is a good martial artist. He’s also made his mark in the world of mixed martial arts and has enough experience… But he’s never faced anyone like me. I’m a well-rounded fighter, and I plan to show that in this fight,” said Eustaquio who is also very excited to get back inside the ONE Circle.
“I’m preparing with the best team, Team Lakay. Every day, I’m surrounded by world champions and athletes, by world-class trainers and coaches. I am constantly trying to upgrade my ground game and wrestling.”
Eustaquio has been silent after claiming an impressive victory against rival Toni “Dynamite” Tauru last November of 2019. “Gravity” finished Tauru with a spinning back kick to the liver in the final round.
In his return, the 31-year old veteran plans to build momentum in this fight in order to contest another ONE World Title.
“Ultimately, my performances will speak for itself. My role is to train and perform at my best, always,” said Eustaquio who has been constantly training even during the outbreak of pandemic.
“But if the opportunity will present itself, of course, I believe I deserve it. It will happen in God’s perfect time.”
ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX III will be live on One Sports+ at 8:30 p.m. Philippine Standard Time (PHT). One Sports will air the event on a same-day delay at 9 p.m. PHT. Additionally, TV5 will air the event on a next-day delay at 11 p.m. PHT.
