Team Lakay Danny Kingad ends his 14-month hiatus with a dominant unanimous decision win over Indonesian Eko Roni Saputra to put his name in a better spot for the flyweight title contention.
Kingad shocked the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium after dictating the whole fight against Saputra at ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs Andrade II earlier today, Feb 25.
The Team Lakay rising star ended Saputra’s seven-fight win streak while further improving his record to 15-3 to solidify his position in the ONE Flyweight rankings – just below Kairat Akhmetov and Adriano Moraes.
Kingad immediately thwarted the Indonesian fighter’s plan, initiating the ground tussle at the first sound of the bell. The King went for the takedown after a side kick to Saputra but was well defended by the latter.
Kingad disapproved with most saying Saputra was really heavy to take down, doing suplexes against the BJJ black belter multiple of times.
The Filipino fighter landed a spinning elbow, softening the legs of the Indonesian foe but failed to finish the night. Kingad though was able to establish his striking supremacy.
Kingad continued went on with his plans, dictating the whole fight until the last minute to take home the unanimous decision win.
