By Ardyn Gonzales

The Adamson University Lady Falcons tallied their second straight win after sweeping the University of Sto. Tomas Lady Tigresses, 25-15, 25-17, 25-19, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament, Wednesday, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

After a hard-earned win against the defending champions, UST was dominated by Adamson in a game that only lasted for an hour and 12 minutes.

It was a total team effort by the Lady Falcons with four players scoring in double-digits in only three sets, led by Kate Santiago and Trisha Tubu who had 13 points apiece. Rizza Cruz contributed 14 points including the team-high four kill blocks, while Lucille Almonte chipped in 10.

After a 2-0 advantage in the match, Adamson saw themselves down halfway through the third set, 17-14, before they started an unanswered 11-2 run to seal their third win.

The Lady Falcons net defense was crucial in the latter part of the set with back-to-back kill blocks on UST followed by a strong attack by Tubu from the opposite.

Eya Laure did not produce her usual number as she was held down to just nine points. UST fell down to 2-2 tied with FEU in the fourth spot.
