UC’s African import shines in Cesafi pre-season debut

CEBU CITY—African reinforcement Tosh Sesay made a good account of himself in his debut as he powered the JoeMangs Surplus-University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters to a 75-63 win over the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors on Tuesday in the college division of the 2019 Cesafi-Partner’s Cup at the USC gym.

The six-foot-10 Sesay, a native of Sierra Leone, piled up a game-high 23 points as he out-dueled USC’s own import Sommy Managor, who finished with 20 points.


Sesay got a solid support from the locals that allowed the Webmasters to control the match after ending the first two quarters with a 25-19 lead.

Luigi Gabisan dropped 15 points, John Jabello donated 12, Paul Galinato tallied 11 and Rodel Gravera chipped in 10 in what was a balanced attack by UC.

Kurt Trangia was the lone USC local to score in double figures with 16.

In the high school division, the Cebu Elite-University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors barged into the win column by plastering University of Cebu-Lapu Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) Campus, 64-56.

Recovering from its opening day loss, USC was led by Kin Dayday and Nathaniel Montecillo, who finished with 10 points each.

Geo Dongalio and Daryl Guerrero scored 15 points each to lead UCLM, which stayed winless after two starts.
