CEBU CITY—Clark Ruedas and John Villabrille joined forces to power the defending champions Talisay Aquastars to their second straight win via an 86-71 dumping of the Naga Electrifiers on Saturday, March 16, in the First District action of the 2019 Cebu Governor’s Cup Under-21 Inter-Cities and Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the Enan Chiong Activity Center in Naga City.
Ruedas fired 17 points and Villabrille tallied 10 as the duo led the Aquastars in frustrating the home team that upped their record to 2-0 (win-loss).
Also winning in the 1st District action was Carcar City, which nipped Minglanilla, 81-76, and San Fernando, which dismantled Sibonga, 81-66.
Taking off to a rousing start in Second District is Argao, which notched its third straight victory at the expense of Boljoon, 88-79.
Oslob tripped Alcoy, 88-84, while Samboan defeated Santander, 76-72, in other Second District games.
Madridejos edged out San Remigio, 71-69, in the 4th District, while Tabuelan mangled Santa Fe, 97-58.
Balamban surged to 2-0 by beating Barili, 80-75, in the Third District.
In the Fifth District A, Sogod proved too good for Borbon and came away with an 98-88 win, while in Fifth District B, Danao blasted Poro, 82-71, and San Francisco thwarted Tudela, 88-54.
Games in the 7th District A saw Moalboal whipping Alcantara, 78-50, and Dumanjug trashing Ronda, 91-65.
In Seventh District B, Badian survived Ginatilan, 95-91, while Alegria blew out Malabuyoc, 105-84.
