BOCAUE, Bulacan – Serbia and Canada lead the second day of FIBA 3×3 World Cup men’s division after sweeping their opponents on Saturday at the Philippine Arena.
Canada finished the day with an unbeaten 2-0 slate after defeating Mongolia 21-15 and Russia 20-17. Led by 6-foot-5 Steve Sir, who became the tournament’s leading scorer with 21 points, Canada easily outrun their opponents.
While Serbia escaped tough opponent Netherlands, who was last year’s finalist, with a 21-17 win.
In their second game, it was quite easy win for the Serbians as they annihilated New Zealand with a 22-13 victory.
On the other hand, Czech Republic and Russia bagged the top spot for the women’s division.
Czech Republic won over Indonesia and Turkmenistan, both with a 22-11 thrashing. Russia then defeated Uganda with a 22-8 victory and Andorra, 21-9, to keep itself atop its pool.
United States women also bagged a 2-0 slate after winning against Iran 21-7 and Andorra 21-6.
Other teams that went 2-0 on Day 2 of FIBA 3×3 are Netherlands (men’s division) and Italy (women’s division).
