Gilas Pilipinas overpowers Brazil in FIBA 3×3

BOCAUE, Bulacan – Gilas Pilipinas defeated Brazil, 15-7 at the start of its pool play in the 2018 FIBA 3×3 World Cup on Saturday at the Philippine Arena.

The Philippine team stunned 6th ranked Brazil with a really strong start, leading as much as 11-2.

Brazil tried to outrun Philippines in the last six minutes of the game after the cutting the lead to 5, but Troy Rosario and Stanley Pringle combined points that put Gilas on top once again.

GlobalPort star Pringle led Gilas, scoring back to back layups to command an eight point lead ahead of Brazil.

RR Pogoy and Rosario helped Pringle seal the win, both finishing with four points with Pogoy shooting all his points beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, Filipino-German Christian Standhardinger contributed another three points for Gilas Pilipinas, despite nursing a knee injury.

On the other hand, Marcellus Sermento led Brazil with four points.

PHILIPPINES 15 – Pogoy 4, Pringle 4, Rosario 4, Standhardinger 3.

BRAZIL 7 – Sarmento 4, Soriani 2, Evangelista 1, Silva 0.
