University of the East’s final four run continued behind Rey Remogat’s dominance in an overtime win against Far Eastern University, 87-86 in UAAP Season 86 Men’s Basketball tournament, Sunday afternoon at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Remogat outputted 34 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and three steals to give the Red Warriors its fourth win in the tournament, tying with the Ateneo de Manila University at fifth spot.

He was the first Red Warrior to score 30-plus points since Alvin Pasaol 32 points in a 66-80 loss against the University of Santo Tomas back in Season 81.

“Sobrang blessed kami, ‘yong team namin, na nagawa namin ‘yong dapat ipagawa ni Coach Jack (Santiago) at ‘yong coaching staff,” said Remogat.

“Sobrang natutuwa lang kami na, ‘yon nga, buhay pa kami na pwede pa makapasok sa Final Four. Siguro ‘yong panalo namin last game and this game, makakatulong sa amin maipanalo yung susunod na games.”

Remogat and FEU’s Xyrus Torres exchanged threes to knot the game at 72 with 48.2 seconds left in regulation. After the clock went down to 12.7 ticks left, the Tamaraws had a chance to win the game but failed to sink their two attempts.

With the two teams exchanging baskets in overtime, 77-77 UE broke away with a 10-0 run for an 87-77 cushion.

Jorick Bautista refused to give up for the Tamaraws, hitting three straight threes to inch closer behind the Red Warriors, but time was not on their side, absorbing their seventh loss in the tournament.

Abdul Sawat added 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists for the Warriors. Nigerian Precious Momowei provided paint presence for the Recto-based squad with 15 rebounds along with five points and two blocks.

Bautista led the Tamaraws with 21 points and three steals while LJ Gonzales supported with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Torres finished with 12 points.

UE hopes to better position in the rankings despite facing top team University of the Philippines on Wednesday while FEU looks to snap a two-game skid against National University.
